Georgian Bay offers ultimate privacy, endless views, and unparalleled water clarity. It has been a popular choice for many cottages over the decades but has remained off the radar compared to Muskoka. While Georgian Bay offers many different buying locations, we focus on our favorites, San Souci and Pointe au Baril. Both locations offer hundreds of private islands on the edge of Georgian Bay. The unique rock formations and wind-swept trees allow for dramatic landscapes and sometimes dramatic weather.
The San Souci area is a 20-25 minute boat ride out from Parry Sound or Woods Bay. There are many marinas with landings that offer car parking and boat slips. Once out on the islands, you have the legendary Henry's Fish Restaurant, LeBlanc's Marina offering a general store and LCBC, and the Fryingpan Island tennis and pickleball courts.
Pointe au Baril is a 30-minute drive by car north of Parry Sound where you arrive at "The Station", home to a few marinas and many landings to help launch you out to the archipelago. Pointe au Baril is a tight-knit community of cottages that have been there for generations. It is an exclusive market with little turnover. The famous Ojibway Club is in the heart of the islands and since 1906 has offered cottagers with tennis, sailing, regattas, dining, and more.
San Souci and Pointe au Baril offer their own versions of day trip destinations where cottagers boat out to dozens of picnic islands perfect for a summer day of fun in the sun. San Souci has the Westerns and Umbrella Islands, while Pointe au Baril has the Minks and McCoy Islands.
